If you're over 17, live in Darlington, are not in full-time education and have been unemployed for more than a year, Choices can help you improve your employability and increase your job opportunities.


It can also help you identify and address the things that are holding you back and stopping you from getting a job, such as lack of confidence and issues like mental health and well-being, drug and alcohol dependency and relationship/family issues.


You'll receive intensive one-to-one support and mentoring, too. 

We can help with:

  • Interview Skills and working on communication

  • Developing your CV

  • Career guidance and planning

  • Job searching

  • Information on the local labour market

  • Sector-specific training 

  • Volunteering opportunities

  • Filling in application forms

  • Ongoing support when you're in work or volunteering

  • Self-development sessions - developing confidence, self-esteem, assertiveness, motivation and resilience.

  • Qualifications including IT skills, social care certificates and first aid

  • Referrals for specialist learning, for example, Maths, English and NVQ's

  • Support to attend appointments, activities and interviews

  • Putting you in touch with specialist support services such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, NHS Talking Changes, Children's centres, Credit Unions and so on.
